All the modules found in the Diploma courses can be taken individually as CPD training.

APRIL 2008
Saturday 5th April : Advanced Massage Techniques (Part 1)
Sunday 6th April : Advanced Massage Techniques (Part 2)

These two 1 day courses can be taken together or separately. They are aimed at the experienced therapist who wants to add further techniques to their 'toolbox'.
Day 1 - Introduction to neuromuscular techniques and trigger points.
Dermatomes and myotomes are discussed and their effects on pain in the body. Methods of treatment are explored and practiced.
Day 2 - Inclusion of both passive and active movements into massage to mobilise the joints and tone the muscles. Shiatsu and acupressure techniques alongside new skills.
It is necessary to complete 3 case studies after the course for a certificate of competence; otherwise a certificate of attendance is issued.

JUNE 2008
Saturday 7th June : Aromatic Pregnancy Massage
Sunday 8th June : Aromatic Hand & Foot Care
A 2 day course to teach the therapists how to take care of hands and feet in conjunction with the use of essential oils beneficial to the hands and feet.

JULY 2008
Saturday 5th July : Indian Head Massage (Part 1)
Sunday 6th July : Indian Head Massage (Part 2)

This popular post-massage course is taught over 2 days and leads to an Academy certificate. The course teaches a seated full head, neck and shoulder routine and discusses Ayurvedic principles of healing. All of the massage movements are explained and demonstrated fully before supervised practice.

This 2 day course explores the beginning of meridians and acupressure.
The course teaches students how to select and locate acupressure points, showing pressure application to provide learning.
Acupressure is an increasingly popular addition to mainstream massage techniques and can bring fast and effective relief from many conditions. Each meridian is taught in combination with useful essential oils so that the student can work methodically to bring specific learning to areas of the mind and body.

DECEMBER 2008
Saturday 6th Dec : Sports & Remedial Massage (Part 1)
Sunday 7th Dec : Sports & Remedial Massage (Part 1)

These two 1 day courses can be taken together or separately.
Day 1 - Explores the effects of exercise on the body and the importance of correct warm up and cool down procedures. Pre and post-sport routines are taught and a general maintenance massage is practiced. This day also includes some A&P revision.
Day 2 - Focuses on specific injuries and methods of treatment. Management of injuries returning back to exercise after an injury is discussed. Neuro - muscular techniques and intrasound massage are used on this day.
It is necessary to complete 3 case studies after the course for a certificate of competence; otherwise a certificate of attendance is issued.


Prices 2008
Courses cost £80 each ex. VAT (deposit £30)

Courses will start at 9 am and finish at 4 pm. There will be a one hour break for lunch and short breaks throughout the day.  Tea and coffee are included but lunch needs to be provided by the students.
